MATCH2 (M2)
In addition to the regular Bible studies and Sunday services, one key ministry is our MATCH2 (M2), which is a type of mentoring program.
A volunteer is assigned to meet with an inmate on a Monday night, once a month, and then write at least one letter. The volunteer cannot help financially, legally or personally, but can be a friend who discusses what we call the 4-F's of ministry.
Talk about: Family, friends, fellowship and freedom. The freedom part includes what is his parole plan and what it means to be free in Christ.
This mentoring event takes place in the visitation room and usually about 35-45 volunteers go in together to visit the men who have signed up.
We want to make sure volunteers are comfortable in working with inmates in a one-on-one setting. Following the evaluation of the inmate and volunteer, we set up the visit. If for any reason, the inmate or volunteer are not compatible, we change the assignment.
Volunteer training dates have not yet been set for 2011, BUT, we need to begin the process of LOOKING for volunteers.
Match2 (M2) Dates for 2012 - volunteers need to be at the El Dorado Facility around 6:15 p.m on the night assigned.

For NEW TRAINING, the sooner you schedule, the better. We need to know 7-10 days before the date you want to train and we NEED the five-page application.
Central Kansas Prison Ministry (CKPM) is very careful in training, equipping and placing volunteers.
We encourage M2 volunteers to write at least one letter a month.
